Indians are now eating out nearly seven times a month, a recently released India Food Services 2019 report reveals. The survey analyzing the food habits of Indians studies their meal preferences, the frequency of eating out and the amount of investment that has made its way into the Indian Food and Beverages (F&B) sector.

The survey also revealed that an Indian household spends Rs 2500 per month on eating out and that north Indian food is the ultimate cuisine choice when eating out.

Interestingly, almost half of the restaurant orders placed in India are for north Indian cuisine, starting from chapatis to dal to paneer and the top-favourite tandoori chicken. Mughlai cuisine which has origins in northern India in states like Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and also among ex-pats in Pakistan, is one of the top favourites.

Delhi and Delhiites, in particular, are right at the top of the list as they eat out six times a month on average. This not only corroborates the fact that when it comes to food Delhi is the capital of India, but also that the foodie Delhiites need no special occasions to dine out.
