Update: 2021-11-22 12:41 GMT

Smog has blanketed the region, but even the waters are no safe haven. The devotees who flock to Kalindi Kunj for Hindu rituals are very much at God’s mercy. Clouds of toxic runoff float from the untreated industrial waste discharged into the Yamuna, along with untreated sewage its biggest source of pollution. Among the devotees is a young girl wearing a covid protective mask, unable to avoid the poisonous foam floating in the river.
