NEW DELHI: The 125th birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru has placed him under attack from those who would like to reduce his role in the nation’s history to a bare minimum. Scholars have warned of these attempts, with the worry becoming real with the ongoing controversy over the Teen Murti Memorial and Library that is seen by the Culture Minister as too Nehru-centric.

The Citizen went to the national archives to bring together a selection of fairly rare photographs of meetings and events that certainly cannot be re-written, try as much as we may.
