Young Indian racer Krishnaraaj Mahadik will compete in the 2018 BRDC British Formula 3 Championship with Double R Racing. The Veloce Sports driver has already completed several private tests with the team over the winter.

“I am delighted to be racing with Double R for the 2018 season,” said Mahadik. “We performed really well together last year and I feel we have unfinished business in British F3, I want to build on that! We are all really looking forward to a successful season and I can’t wait to hit the track.

“I am feeling focused and on top of my game and I know I have the best group of guys around me. At Double R I feel part of the family and, together, I feel like we can achieve great things this year,” the 19-year-old added.

This will be Mahadik’s first full season in British F3 after making his debut in 2016 with Chris Dittmann Racing. The Kolhapur-born driver competed in seven rounds that year finishing 20th in the championship with a best result of sixth place in only his first weekend.

The following year, he was largely confined to indoor training with few tests when he joined Veloce Sports management. He entered in two rounds of British F3 with Double R Racing and earned his first major international win in Race 2 at Brands Hatch.

“Everyone at the team is very happy to see Krish back with us for 2018, he did a fantastic job on his first outing with us last year at Brands Hatch – to win on his first weekend with Double R really was a perfect start to the relationship,” said Team Principal Anthony Hieatt.

“British F3 is always super competitive but we know Krish has the capability of challenging at the front and with the experience he’s gained in F3 over the last couple of years, it should be a strong season together.”

Mahadik joins Linus Lundqvist in the team and becomes the second Indian entrant for the season after Kush Maini (Lanan Racing). The season kicks off in Oulton Park (March 31-April 1) with the finale in Silverstone (October 13-14).

The six races in between the first and the finale are Rockingham (April 28-29), Snetterton (May 26-27), Silverstone (June 9-10), Spa-Francorchamps (July 21-22), Brands Hatch (August 4-5) and Donington Park (September 22-23).
