Internet and media has completely changed the face of communication. Media has been an interactive and informative platform to throw light on the voices of the marginalized communities.

The department of journalism, Kamala Nehru College is all set for its annual fest Journo Junction on the 8th of February 2018. The theme of the event is Emerging Voices: Media and The New Publics.

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m.


The seminar commences at 10:00 a.m. with Ajith Pillai, senior journalist and author of 'Off The Record' talking about New Media: Promises And Challenges. It will be followed by a panel discussion on Intersections-Caste, Sexuality and Media at 11:30. We have Harish Wankhede(Assistant Professor, Centre For Political Science, School Of Social Sciences, Jnu), Dhrubo Jyoti(Journalist Hindustan Times), Ajita Rao(Dalit feminist, Democratic Rights activists, clinical researcher, also associated with WSS and PUDR) on the panel of speakers.

At 2:00 p.m. a screening of the documentary 'The Garbage Trap' will be held which will be followed by a discussion with the members of the Municipal Safai Karmachari Union, Pune, who are the producers of the documentary.

The event will culminate with a performance by Asmita Theater Group from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.

We have a series of competitions with a number of rewards and cash prizes.

Conflicting thoughts and diverse voices are welcome to share their opinions at ‘Clickbate’ - the debating competition. If you're looking for a space to express your thoughts then join us for Slamming Boundaries - the slam poetry competition.
