Menstrual hygiene day is an annual awareness day that aims to break taboos and raise awareness about the importance of good menstrual hygiene management (MHM) for women and adolescent girls. The same is observed world over on 28th May every year.

Realizing the importance of this day, Sachhi Saheli, (a non-profit organisation in New Delhi) in association with Department of Woman and Child Development, Govt. of NCT Delhi is organizing a first of its kind, Menstrual Hygiene Day Period Fest followed by a march called the ‘Pad’ Yatra.

Sachhi Saheli has been working on ground for the past few years to alleviate stigmas related to menstruation in the society while fostering effective menstrual health and hygiene. They do so by regularly hosting awareness sessions for school and communities.

In an effort to foster ‘Period Positivity’, the Sachhi Saheli team is organizing a celebration laden festival called the Menstrual Hygiene Day Period Fest’18 on the eve of Menstrual Hygiene Day, i.e, on 27th May 2018 at E, Block Inner Circle in Connaught Place, New Delhi from 6 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The event will be graced with the presence of Mr. Manish Sisodia (Hon’ble Dy. Chief Minister, Delhi) and Mrs. Swati Malala(Hon’ble Chairperson, DCW).

This fest will be divided into various zones that will aim to provide knowledge about women health and periods while also shattering the myths that surround the natural process of menstruation. The zone include : Pad Zone, Health Zone, Debunking the Myths Zone, Artist Zone & Fun Zone.

It will be followed by a march called ‘Pad’ Yatra. around the inner circle in Connaught Place. The march will aim to bring together people from all walks of life who will march together in order to break the silence around the natural physiological process of menstruation.

With this festival, Sachhi Saheli hopes to initiate a revolutionary movement that will be joined by several others so as to rid our society of menstrual stigma.
