SRINAGAR: Chairmen of moderate Hurriyat, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, will attend the Eid-i-Milan function of Pakistan High Commissioner to India in New Delhi on July 21.

A high-level meeting of moderate Hurriyat chaired by Mirwaiz was held on Thursday in Srinagar wherein it was decided that the Hurriyat amalgam will participate in the Eid-i-Milan function of Pakistan's High Commissioner.

“Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Masroor Abbas Ansari will be the part of Hurriyat delegation that will attend the function in Delhi,” a close aide of Mirwaiz told The Citizen.

Shabir Ahmad Shah's DFP will also attend the function in Delhi, "We will attend the function and make our position on Kashmir clear to Pakistan," a senior DFP leader said.

The announcements comes two days after the Tehree-e-Hurriyat chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, and Dukhtaraan-e-Millat chief, Asiya Andrabi, announced that they will boycott the Eid-i-Milan function as a mark of protest against Pakistan for skipping ‘Kashmir’ word in a joint statement issued by Pakistani and Indian Prime Ministers during their meeting on the sidelines of SCO summit in Ufa, Russia, recently
