NEW DELHI: The chilling memory of 16 December gang rape in Delhi was re-enacted in the city of Bhopal where a woman was gang-raped in a moving bus by the driver and two of his accomplices.

The woman boarded the bus at around 11 pm to go to Pul Bogda area, but the driver didn’t stop at the destination and took her to the Maida Mill area which is usually isolated. The trio then raped the woman, driving the bus around the area.

According to Bhopal (South) SP Anshuman Singh the driver and one of his accomplices, who is also a mini-bus driver have been arrested. The driver of the bus been identified as Pandit, and his accomplice as Salman.

The woman later approached the police station and complained about the incident. After which the police arrested two of the three persons involved in the crime. The third person has not yet been identified by them and is absconding.

In 2012, a woman was gang-raped in the same fashion by driver and his four friends, including a juvenile, in a moving bus. The incident had ignited a revolution among youths of the country which made the judiciary revisit some of the lax rape laws, and a committee was formed under Justice J S Verma. The committee submitted its recommendation in month of April next year.
