NEW DELHI: An advocate from Faridabad was caught filming young women in a mall, with the help of a hidden camera in his shoe. The man had recorded few clips the same way a week before in the same mall and had come back for more.

Ashish Sharma, a corporate advocate, was found to be carrying a black rectangular spy camera with a memory capacity of 16GB. It was the security guard of the FOREVER 21 store in DLF Mall Saket, who noticed the suspicious behavior of Sharma, who was constantly hovering around young girls in the store who were wearing mini-skirts or shorts.

“The advocate’s behavior caught my eyes because he was chasing only those female customers who were wearing mini-skirts and short dresses and then placing his right foot close to those women,” the guard told the media. He then immediately informed the mall manager who came with three other guards and nabbed Sharma. But the culprit didn’t submit to the authorities before a bid to flee the premises, but his effort was swiftly tamed when an alarm was raised by those present there.

“The accused person was caught targeting female visitors of the ‘Forever 21’ store located at DLF Mall in Saket. He said he enjoys such clips and was recording them for personal consumption. But we are investigating whether he was involved in distribution,” said Prem Nath, DCP (South).

When he found himself assailed by the mall authorities, who interrogated him in the mall security room, Sharma produced the spy camera from his shoe which was tied with his laces from inside.

From the memory of the camera 10 such videos were retrieved as he was trying to capture at the time of his arrest in the store. Police charged him under 354 C and 354 D which pertain to unlawful capture of private moments of a person and stalking. He was later released on bail, while his other gadgets and social media record are being checked for any clue to establish whether he ever sold the video clips to any porn websites.
