NEW DELHI: The second day of Spandan 2015, the annual mega media cultural festival of Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies, was a mélange of entertainment, creativity and fun. The first day of the festival, powered by Unity Group, saw crowd-pulling events such as Media Panchayat, Odissi dance and Dastaan-e-Goi. Friday evening made memorable with a souful performance of sufi qawwalis by Nizam-e-Babhu, a qawwal group associated with the Sufi shrine of Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia, also famous for the song ‘Kun Faya Kun’ from the film Rockstar (2011).

The festival also organized a cinematography workshop by well-known Bollywood cinematographer Vivek Thakur, who has worked on film projects like ‘Kill Dill’ and ‘Raincoat’. The second edition of the international film festival of VIPS, Cinephile, also being held as part Spandan, screened film entries under student and professional category from countries like USA, Sri Lanka, Italy, among others. At Cinephile, supported by SAIL, jury member cinematographer Sanjay Aggarwal, who has worked with National Geographic and Discovery Channel, held a special talk shop for cinema lovers.

The RJ hunt, judged by the popular radio jockeys of Fever 104 FM, RJ Richa and RJ Addy witnessed an overwhelming response. Contesting RJs performed a mock script on statements made by politicians and Bollywood gossip. At Spandan, sponsored by HES Infra, Silver Touch, and street dance competition was won by the Trinity Institute of Professional Studies. The street play event raised significant issues like terrorism and women empowerment. Gunjan Sharma, Senior Correspondent, PTI judged the debate competition on the topic, ‘Does marketing with a social cause gives brand a human face?’

The day observed many other events like creative writing, anchor hunt, on the spot photography, X-Factor and fashion show.
