SRINAGAR: After a suspension of almost two years, 4G internet services have now been restored across Jammu and Kashmir. J&K administration’s Principal Secretary Rohit Kansal made the announcement on Twitter.

Services had been snapped 18 months ago following the central government’s decision to abrogate Article 370. Internet services were suspended across Jammu and Kashmir when it was converted into a Union Territory, and although 2G services resumed in parts of the UT, 4G services remained blocked till now.

Various news reports have detailed how the absence of 4G has curtailed life in Jammu and Kashmir. BASIT ZARGAR sends these photos of residents in Srinagar accessing the internet on their phones after 4G services were restored on Friday.

Kashmiris posted on the social media all through the day to make it clear that the authorities were not doing them a favour, just restoring their rights in a democracy.
