The last fortnight Kashmiris have witnessed a number of attacks on civilians and soldiers alike.

On October 5, well known pharmacist Makhan Lal Bindroo was shot dead in Srinagar’s Iqbal Park while interacting with customers. Bhelpuri vendor Virendra Paswan was killed in Madina Bazar, Lal Chowk, and Naidkhai resident Mohammed Shafi Lone in Bandipora the same day.


On October 7, principal Supinder Kour and teacher Deepak Chand were killed at the Government Higher Secondary School in Sangam, Eidgah, Srinagar.

On October 11 and 12, five Indian Army soldiers and seven armed men were killed in separate encounters in Anantnag, Bandipora, the Poonch forests and Shopian.


On October 15 and 16, Indian security forces killed two alleged militants in Pampore and Pulwama.
