NEW DELHI: Academy-Award winning composer A R Rahman has just recreated one of his old classic track from the 90’s Urvashi Urvashi by crowdsourcing the lyrics through his Facebook page, with the song going viral.

On December 1 2016 AR Rahman through a post asked for suggestions to add to the old track. Ideas poured in with the maestro introducing demonetisation and Donal Trump on popular demand.

The new song immortalising the ‘take it easy’ policy was uploaded on MTV India’s FB page and also shared by Rahman. It incorporates direct references to demonetisation and US President-elect Donald Trump in Tamil that now has been dubbed in Hindi as well.

"Ainooru ruba sellama pona, take it easy policy" (If the Rs. 500 note becomes useless, take it easy policy).

"Donald Trump president aana, take it easy policy" (If Donald Trump becomes president, take it easy policy).

Urvasi Urvasi was first composed in 1994 for Shankar’s Kadhalan, starring Prabhudeva and Nagma. The original lyrics were written by Vairamuthu, Rahman with Suresh Peters (who sang with him in the original hit) and composer Ranjit Barot.

It has so far generated more than 1.6 million views on Facebook.
