Money Talks!
Chelsea's Eden Hazard is the EPL's most valuable player

It is a well known fact that transfer values are going through the roof in today’s day and age. Clubs are not afraid to spend millions and millions to ensure that they get the right man for the job, and as a result, one can see prices of world football’s best and brightest skyrocketing.
The fact of the matter is that each player has an approximate market value. The club however, may choose to value the player at something far higher or lower depending on the situation, most often the latter. The price a player is eventually sold for also depends on variables such as form, age, importance to the side, years left on his current contract and so on.
As a result, there have been a few drastic changes in values of players from last season itself, which truly goes to show how quickly things can change in the beautiful game! This begs the question then; does the team with the most valuable players necessarily do the best? Here’s my analysis:
Arsenal
The Gunners squad value is approximately 347.42 million pounds, with German attacking midfielder Mesut Oezil their most expensive acquisition, valued at close to 39.60 million pounds.
Chelsea
Jose Mourinho’s Blues are valued at just short of 400 million pounds, but boast the League’s most highly valued player, Belgian playmaker Eden Hazard who is valued at just over 42 million pounds.
Liverpool
The Merseyside outfit has the lowest squad value of the so-called Big 5 clubs, weighing in at 289.52 million pounds. Striker Daniel Sturridge is the Red’s most expensive player at approximately 22 million pounds.
Manchester City
The defending champions boast a squad valued at a whopping 409.86 million pounds, with Argentine marksman Sergio Aguero being the most expensive player, valued at close to 40 million pounds.
Manchester United
The Red Devils have been largely unsuccessful in their transfer market dealings so far this window, but their squad value is still around 342.32 million pounds. Captain Wayne Rooney is their most expensive player, valued at just under 40 million pounds.
Now, if these statistics are to be taken into account, the League table should shape up like this at the end of the season:
1. Manchester City
2. Chelsea
3. Arsenal
4. Manchester United
5. Liverpool
Pundits and bookmakers alike believe in a largely similar ending to this season’s League:
1. Chelsea
2. Manchester City
3. Arsenal
4. Manchester United
5. Liverpool
The above chart shows the probability of each of the teams mentioned finishing in various positions in the table. Chelsea and City will fight it out for the crown, and United, Arsenal and Liverpool for the remaining three spots, which will most likely lead to the Reds missing out on Champions League football next year.
So, does money buy success? Not necessarily, but it sure does help buy quality, which is a sure shot to success in the big leagues.
