In Manipur Shootings and arson continued till early on Monday morning. Clashes were reported between security forces and angry local groups. Allegedly, the local groups in Serou vandalised the house of Congress Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) K. Ranjit Singh, officials said, adding that the MLA and his family escaped unhurt.

Four angry local groups detained four Manipur MLAs who were visiting the southern tip of the Kakching district on Saturday evening. they were there to take stock of the situation where hundreds of houses were burnt down to ashes on Sunday, during gunfire exchanged between security forces and unknown militant groups

Three ruling BJP MLAs were allegedly detained by angry locals at the Sugnu Bazar Mahila Congress building along with the lone Indian National Congress (INC) MLA K Ranjit Singh. They were led by Minister Y. Kemchand, who sought permission to meet Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on the same day to discuss the relocation of the Assam Rifles camp from Sugnu.

Meanwhile, in a tragic incident in Manipur’s Iroisemba under Lamsang Police Station in Imphal West, local groups attacked killing three individuals. According to the local media reports, an ambulance and a Gypsy carrying three individuals, who were heading toward Imphal West were intercepted by angry locals when they were traveling from Phayeng, on Sunday evening. The ambulance was burned down.

On Sunday at the crack of dawn, unknown local groups set fire to two villages in the Sugnu area of Kakching district, including the residence of legislator’s K. Ranjit’s residence.

Sources indicated that the MLA's home was partially burned down in the incident, causing further tension and unrest in the region
