NEW DELHI: There has been an upsurge in violence in Afghanistan, with headlines dominated by suicide attacks carried out by the Taliban. Recent attacks within a span of a week have included an attack on a foreign guesthouse in Kabul where three members of a South African family were killed, an attack on a British embassy convoy that killed six, and an attack on a foreign guesthouse belonging to the International Relief & Development (IRD) organization. The same week saw fighting in Helmand province as Taliban insurgents stormed Camp Bastion, killing at least five soldiers, and an attack in Sangin district that killed at least 12.
Life, however, continues in Afghanistan, despite the violence.
