US Presidential Candidate Opposes Transgender Rights
MIke Huckabee
NEW DELHI: Mike Huckabee is quite at odds with a host of issues which are championed zealously by most liberals. To add to the salad of disapproving statements with regards to gay rights which he has been for very long, we have now a video in which he refers to transgender rights as a threat to America.
The videos is of a conference which was conducted in February at National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Nashville, Tennessee, which has just been uploaded by Worldnetdaily, last weekend.
Huckabee is a Presidential hopeful for next year’s elections and has been Governor of Arkansas till 2007. In the event, which was primarily intended to discuss religion , Huckabee at one point says (around 17 minute 40 sec mark) that, “For those who do not think that we are under threat, simply recognize the fact that we are now, in city after city, watching ordinances say that your seven-year-old daughter, if she goes into the restroom, cannot be offended and you can’t be offended if she’s greeted there by a 42-year-old man who feels more like a woman than he does a man.”
“Now I wish that someone told me that when I was in high school that I could have felt like a woman when it came time to take showers in PE [physical education]... I’m pretty sure that I would have found my feminine side and said: ‘Coach, I think I’d rather shower with the girls today.’ You’re laughing because it sounds so ridiculous, doesn’t it?” He said.
Showing concern for the far-fetching effects of lazy thinking Huckabee asked politicians to use their brains while governing. He said, “There is something inherently wrong about forcing little children to be a part of this social experiment,” adding further , he said, “I’m not against anybody. I’d just like for somebody to bring their brain to work some day and not leave it on the bedstand when they show up to govern.”
As reported in Guardian , when asked by reporters on Friday about the transformation of caitlyn Jenner, Huckabee dismissed the question saying, “I am not going there”.
Mike Huckabee in the past has made several controversial remarks which struck an off note with liberal media. Last year, speaking on the Federal mandate Contraceptive Pill, he has said, “ "Democrats want to insult the women of America by making them believe that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control, they cannot control their libido or their reproductive system without the help of the government.”
Huckabee had last run for Presidentship in 2008.
