NEW DELHI: If you’re reading this in India, you’re probably well-versed with Russell Peters, a Canadian-Indian comedian behind the famous “take it and go” and “somebody gonna get a hurt real bad” funnies. Now meet Zaid Ali, Pakistan’s answer to Russell. Ali is a Canadian-Pakistani comedian with his own signature one liners: “kaaaaaar lo” and “maaaaaar lo.”

His videos offer a hilarious insight into the lives of South Asians. Although it is meant to cater to Pakistanis, the videos apply in equal measure to Indians (and Bangladeshis, Nepalis, Sri Lankans…). Several of the videos poke fun at “brown parents” and their hypocrisy/strictness. Others at selfie-obsessed serial wedding attending South Asian girls. Still others draw distinctions between South Asian professionals -- cops, restaurateurs, teachers -- and their “white” counterparts.
