M Cream’, a widely acclaimed indie film that has assumed the uber-cool mantle of India’s first stoner movie, unleashed a new trailer online and in theatres. The uncensored version online has already been gaining major traction, particularly in the wake of the ‘Udta Punjab’ controversy. However, while the latter film condemned the use of drugs, the former has glorified it. Writer/Director Agneya Singh commented, “the youth of today are tired of being told what to do. We’re tired of the lies, the hypocrisy and the oppression. This country needs a revolution and who better than the young to bring it in. We are not condoning the indiscriminate use of drugs but we are calling for a debate on the decriminalization of drugs such as marijuana and certain hallucinogens. It’s ludicrous that marijuana is still illegal in India; it’s not even a drug, it’s a herb”.

‘M Cream’ has traveled extensively on the festival circuit and has already won several accolades internationally. The cast includes Imaad Shah, Ira Dubey, Auritra Ghosh and Barry John. “We’re thrilled to bring ‘M Cream’ to audiences here at home. Contrary to what many would believe, it’s not just about drugs. Infact, the film is really a coming-of-age story about four mavericks who typify the youth of today. It’s about finding the courage to take a stand, even one against insurmountable odds,” stated Singh. Are you intrigued? We certainly are… Catch it in theatres on July 22!
